Gabrielle Reilly: (Laugh) I read you lived "near the Arctic Circle." Where were you?
Leslie Nelsen: Oh yeah, that's where I spent my early childhood. I learnt to walk in the Arctic Circle. We were in a place called Fort Norman, and my father was a mounted policeman. You can be quite sure that not too many people up there in the mounted North because it's tough enough to do a horse lift so everyone puts on snow shoes.
Gabrielle Reilly: What is your best tip for pulling off comedy?
Leslie Nielsen: It's a very good tip when you try to do comedy and people are listening to you and you hear them laughing and then you know you have pulled off some comedy.
Gabrielle Reilly: (Laughter)
Leslie Nielsen: See there you go! That is what I am liable to say to anybody who wants to know about comedy.
Gabrielle Reilly: (Laughter) so how did you become so good at comedy? Did you take any comedy classes?
Leslie Nielsen: No, no classes. It's, how can I put it, people who spend their time up North, they have very few thing to do but there work. That's it, work and then work the next day. Then to work the next day. So you don't spend too much time learning anything about doing comedy because you just keep on working.
Gabrielle Reilly: What do you do with all your ideas and life experiences? Do you get the luxury of putting them in your skits or is most of it written for you?
Leslie Nielsen: I have a great luxury. David Zucker was the producer and director how can I put it.. (laugh) I can't put it anywhere. He has always been a part of our game. Very much a part of David Zucker.
Gabrielle Reilly: So did you do any adlibbing?
Leslie Nielsen: No, no adlibbing at all. The way David Zucker looks at is, he spent a lot of time writing the script and getting it down to where he wants it to sound. Then when it comes out and it doesn't sounds right, then he gets into it and together we work it out until it sounds funny.
Gabrielle Reilly: For all of the home movie/web cam stars out there. what tip can you offer for working in front of a camera?
Leslie Nielsen: There is no real tips. The big thing to do is just to go ahead and have somebody you can do a scene with who is funny and you enjoy working with. Then you go ahead and try and turn it around and. Where are you calling from?
Gabrielle Reilly: (Chuckle) Kansas City.
Leslie Nelsen: You're calling from Kansas City!!! (Chuckle) Boy oh boy oh boy, that's a new one!
Gabrielle Reilly: An Australian in Kansas City none the less.
